Thank you for taking the time to look around the Superyacht Psychotherapist site and to see if I might be a suitable partner with whom to begin or continue your counselling / psychotherapy journey.
I work as a Humanistic Integrative counsellor drawing primarily on the principles of Person Centred Theory and also Transactional Analysis and Gestalt. Whilst our work together will be exclusively about you it feels right to use this page to introduce myself and to explain how and why I have come to be working as a qualified, BACP registered counsellor / psychotherapist.
I have enjoyed a very varied and interesting working life and I have travelled extensively. I have had money and I’ve been broke. I have experienced all sorts of mental and physical challenges and I have mixed with all manner of people from different cultural backgrounds, ethics and belief systems.
These experiences have given me a diverse set of ‘life-skills’, all of which can be relevant and of value to someone in need of a ‘worldly’, non-judgmental, compassionate and empathic ear.
Over time I have had a number of close friends who have worked in mental health and I have seen at close hand the challenges they have faced and the rewards they have enjoyed through their work, and I’ve heard countless stories of clients being helped in all sorts of ways.
Inspired by these people and their stories, and having decided to embark on this new career, I was keen to do it the ‘right way’. I was determined to follow a recognised course of training and, once qualified, to work under the guidance of, and within the ethical guidelines of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
I have to admit that I initially kicked really hard against any suggestions that I might benefit from personal therapy. But it was a pre-requisite of my training so I had no choice but to embark on my own personal therapy journey – and guess what?
It was an amazing, life affirming and incredibly enlightening experience and I now strongly believe that everyone should at some point in their lives have an opportunity to experience personal therapy – irrespective of whether or not they have a particular issue they want to work through.
If you are at that time in your life, or if you are in some way responsible for the well-being of those that are, it would be a privilege if I could be part of that experience.
